“The reason it’s important (to talk about this) is to try and (aim for) zero fatalities,” said Flynn.
That’s why law enforcement and safety specialists from all six New England states are in Burlington for the 2019 Northeast Transportation Safety Conference.
“We become a very strong and powerful force on combating and addressing what’s causing the fatalities and the crashes on our roadways and identifying the irresponsible behavior that leads to these tragedies,” said Lt. Tara Thomas, with the Vermont State Police.
Experts said they face the same problem every year: How to prevent impaired, aggressive and distracted driving. Those are the biggest threats to public safety on the road.
