Uber Found Not Guilty In Fatal Arizona Crash, But Prosecutor Urges Further Probe

The investigation, led by Yavapai County Attorney Sheila Sullivan Polk, found that Uber was not criminally liable. But Polk recommended an additional investigation by her counterpart, Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery, who declined to head the initial inquiry because of a conflict of interest. The accident occurred in Maricopa County.

Specifically, Polk called for an expert analyst to determine what Uber and its “safety driver would or should have seen that night given the vehicle’s speed, lighting conditions and other relevant safety factors.”

Uber has not commented on Polk’s decision.
