U.S. and Canadian unions go to battle with GM over jobs, plants

Union members on both sides of the Detroit River escalated their campaign against General Motors Thursday over the automaker’s plans to shutter factories and put thousands of workers out of jobs.

Early in the day, Unifor, the Canadian autoworkers’ union, aggressively launched a campaign to shame GM for those plans by running four full-page ads in print editions of the Free Press and Detroit News.
