Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission delinquent on over $400 million (NMA mention)

“The reason the turnpike has not paid its last three payments is based on a lawsuit that was filed by the Independent Truckers Association. Based on that current litigation we are required to get a letter from bond council that basically says those funds will not be inhibited in anyway. We are unable to get that letter”, said Turnpike Commission CEO Mark Compton.

That federal lawsuit was filed last year by the Owner-Operator of Independent Driver’s Association and the National Motorists Association. The Association says tolls from truckers and drivers should be used for Turnpike improvements not public transit.
