“My vehicle registration came up and it was few months later and I went to go renew my registration they told me no, they told me i couldn’t do it,” said Luke Tarbutton.
It’s called the scofflaw, and it is enforced in Angelina County and other counties across the state.
Texas State Representative Cole Hefner, R-Mount Pleasant, is hoping to change it. He’s authored and filed House Bill 901. The proposed legislation would prevent the state from withholding someone’s auto registration if the vehicle’s owner is delinquent in paying fines.
