Tempe wants to force drivers to slow down.
The city estimates that one in five of all serious injury and fatal crashes in Tempe are speed-related.
To address that, staff suggests lowering speed limits on nearly every major arterial and collector street across the city, from Curry Road in north Tempe to the city’s southern border.
Residents can provide feedback on the proposal during three informational meetings later this year — including one on Thursday — and weigh in on the city’s website at Tempe.gov.
Any speed limit changes would not take effect until next year.
