Snow-covered car windows could leave drivers with tickets in Iowa (and elsewhere too)

Driving with snow-covered windows could be costly for people on the roads.

The Iowa State Patrol says they’re prepared to issue fines for obstruction of vision if a driver causes an incident.

“If you are involved in a crash and you have that kind of condition, we’re definitely going to write you a ticket. That’s part of the contributing factor,” said Iowa State Patrol Senior Trooper Bob Conrad.

It’s not just windshields. All windows should be cleared both for the driver’s safety and those traveling around the vehicle. While Conrad says many incidents do occur as a result of distracted driving cases, low visibility also plays a role. It’s why it’s also important for drivers to clear off the roofs of their cars.
