The Searcy Police Department is taking part in a “tough new speed enforcement blitz” Monday by participating in the Obey the Sign or Pay the Fine initiative, according to a news release from Sgt. Todd DeWitt, the department’s public information officer.
“Speeding translates to death on our roadways,” DeWitt said in the release. “It greatly reduces a driver’s ability to steer safely around another vehicle, a hazardous object or an unexpected curve. Speeding drivers put themselves, their passengers and other drivers at tremendous risk.
