Rural Florida communities skeptical of Suncoast toll road benefits

The Jefferson County commissioner, a member of the Suncoast Connector Task Force, has heard the state’s reasons for extending the parkway from Citrus County to Interstate 10 or the Georgia border: hurricane evacuation, boost in tourism, extend broadband availability, jobs to rural areas, sewer lines to remove septic tanks from environmentally sensitive areas.

All good, she said Tuesday, but: “Who is going to provide these services? Who’s going to pay for these services?”
