Staten Island, NY Lawmaker makes effort to prevent possible ‘double-tolling’ related to congestion pricing

Before that happens, Malliotakis (R-Staten Island/South Brooklyn) introduced a bill on June 4, the “Protection Against Double Tolling Act,” which would allow for a credit for tolls already paid before entering the congestion pricing district — a Staten Islander, for example, paying the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge toll would be credited that amount against congestion pricing fees in Manhattan.

“Being that it is the first in the nation, I believe that it is important that we take close note of what may be occurring here,” she said during a June 9 hearing of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. “My concern is if the federal government approves the congestion pricing plan, that my constituents would be double-tolled.”
