Push underway to eliminate red light cameras in Florida

A new push is on to permanently turn off red light cameras across the state.

It’s rekindling the debate over whether or not the program is truly about keeping people safe at intersections.

Some communities are dropping the cameras, but not Orlando and Orange County.

Apopka shut down its program in January, but Orlando and Orange County, with a combined 84 cameras at 59 intersections, has no intention of shutting down their programs.
