Officials proposing more than $23M in transportation upgrades for southwest Longmont, CO

Longmont has outlined design plans and projected costs for nine transportation projects in the fast-growing southwest part of the city that officials would like to see tackled over the next several years, with the big one being a tunnel for westbound Colo. 119 lanes at Hover Street and a parallel underground buffered bike and pedestrian crossing.

That proposal, with a city-estimated price tag of nearly $17 million — making it by far the most expensive of projects analyzed in a recent study — will require cooperation and some funding partnerships with Colorado Department of Transportation, Boulder County, and the Regional Transportation District, a Longmont consultant said in its report.
