Illinois: Oak Forest (Chicago suburb) renews red light camera contract

In other business, aldermen voted 6-1 in favor of renewing a contract with the company that operates the red light cameras on Cicero Avenue at 167th and 159th streets.

The contract, which expires Wednesday, is with Gatso USA, which recently merged with another company and is now known as Sensys/Gatso USA Inc.

Police Chief Timothy Kristin said the city has had its deal with Gatso for nine years, and the extension will run through 2020. He said the cameras have assisted on occasion in criminal investigations.
