NYC District Attorney announces a statewide bill to crack down on reckless drivers

The bill comes on the recommendation of a Manhattan grand jury impaneled by Vance in April.

The grand jury, which initially proposed that the New York state legislature establish the new “vehicular violence” article, also proposed reforms to policymakers that included the removal of “dangerous drivers from New York City and State roadways through education, street design, and increased government oversight.”

“We are confident that our recommendations will provide law enforcement and prosecutors’ offices with additional tools to bring dangerous drivers to justice and prevent future crashes,” the 67-page grand jury report reads.
