NY Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie says NYC congestion pricing is this year’s toughest issue

Heastie said many outer-borough residents in New York City reside in “transit deserts” and rely on driving to get to work.

It’s an issue that especially concerns lawmakers who represent sections of the city that lack access to subways.

“How do you address the people in Brooklyn and Queens where there are these transit deserts?” Heastie asked on the “Capitol Pressroom” radio show in Albany.

“For them [outer-borough Assembly members], this is a big deal if their constituents have to drive to work and this will put a burden on them.”
