NJ Turnpike authority must justify increase in E-ZPass violation fee to $50, court rules

The New Jersey Turnpike Authority will have to provide evidence to show why it raised its E-ZPass violation fee from $25 to $50, under a ruling by a state appeals court Friday.

The ruling came in a legal challenge filed in 2017 by two motorists who claimed the hiking of the fee roughly six years earlier was unreasonableand in violation of state law.
