New Website Helps States Combat Teen Driver Crashes

Motor vehicle crashes continue to be the leading cause of death for teens in the U.S., yet while all 50 states and Washington, D.C. have some laws protecting new teen drivers, no state currently has all the provisions known to offer the strongest protection.

During the first six months of licensure, safety experts say, young drivers are eight times more likely to be involved in a fatal crash than more experienced drivers.

A new online resource hopes to help states change that.
