New speed and red-light cameras are going up in Baltimore City.
WBAL-TV 11 reports the new speed cameras will be installed at seven locations. New red-light cameras will go in at 11 different intersections.
The speed camera monitoring system uses portable and fixed speed cameras that detect vehicles traveling at least 12 mph over the posted speed limit. Under state law, the cameras operate in school zones on weekdays from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. The new speed cameras will go live Oct. 15.
The red-light cameras use sensors working in conjunction with traffic lights to take photos of vehicles entering an intersection during a red light. The new red-light cameras will be up and running Nov. 30.
