New Orleans to halt use of school zone cameras beginning Friday

School zone traffic cameras across New Orleans will end operations at 4:45 p.m. this Friday (May 24), according to the mayor’s office.

message posted on New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell’s Twitter account Wednesday stated the school zone cameras will be paused during the summer. The 20 mph school zone speed limit is enforced from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., and 2:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m., when students are typically arriving at and departing from school. It is the end of the school year for many schools this month.
