More than 28,000 Hagerstown, MD speed camera tickets in school zones issued in FY18

Hagerstown’s speed cameras in school zones clicked off 28,815 tickets this past fiscal year, totaling a little more than $1 million in fines.

That’s an average of nearly 111 motorists per weekday, or almost eight tickets per hour while cameras operate. The tickets went to people caught speeding in city school zones from July 1, 2017, to June 30, 2018, according to data the city provided last week.

This represents an uptick from the previous fiscal year, when about 27,000 tickets, or almost 104 daily, were issued from the city’s cameras.
