Law enforcement officers looking into why there have been so many crashes in New Mexico

State police report around 218 crashes since the beginning of the year in the Edgewood, Los Lunas, Albuquerque and Cuba areas.

“Wearing your seat belt can save you a lot of trouble if you are ever in a crash,” Wilson said.

State police said weather can be a factor in many crashes, but they are looking at other things that are causing a mess on the roads. Speed, following too closely and distracted driving are all factors.
