In Delaware, the City of Wilmington has recently made some changes to the automated red light camera ticket writing operation. Changes the AAA seems to support.
AAA Mid-Atlantic’s Vice President of Public and Government Affairs, Cathy Rossi, issued the following statement:
“AAA appreciates continued efforts by the city of Wilmington to focus resources on addressing public safety issues and protecting drivers from being cited by an automated system without police oversight. The city administration has changed its policies for the better to align with the best practices AAA recommends nationally for red-light camera programs.”
Since 2014, AAA Mid-Atlantic has been working with the city of Wilmington, the Delaware Department of Transportation, and members of the Delaware General Assembly to address concerns that the city’s red light cameras were being used more to increase city revenue than to protect public safety.
