Louisiana: Jackson Parish truck driver demands changes with Office of Motor Vehicles

A Jackson Parish truck driver is demanding changes within the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles (sometimes called the OMV or DMV.) Thomas Nickarz has been a truck driver for more than a decade.

“I went to the DMV (OMV) three days ago because my driver license expires today,” he said. “I’ve got a brand new job I’m trying to go to.”

While trying to get his commercial driver’s license renewed, he was turned away by OMV agents.

“They said I had a flag on my license for one of my vehicles not being insured,” Nickarz said.

He says his insurance provider, State Farm, had proof he was never uninsured though.
