IL/WI: Police Chief proposes lowering speed limits in South Beloit

South Beloit drivers could soon have to obey new speed limits, with Police Chief Adam Truman proposing a citywide change to the South Beloit City Council.

Under the change, speed limits in residential areas of 30 miles-per-hour would be lowered to 25 miles-per-hour, excluding state highways (Illinois Route 2, Route 75, Highway 251) and county roads like Prairie Hill.

“It comes down to the safety of our residents. It’s that simple,” Truman said.
