Governor Tony Evers says tolls in Wisconsin are “years down the road”

Gov. Tony Evers is looking for ideas around the nation to fix roads in Wisconsin.

Evers is at the National Governors Association winter meetings in Washington, D.C. He says Wisconsin needs to find more money to spend on roads and can’t depend on the federal government to help.

One option raised by Republican leaders is toll roads.

“That’s part of the conversation, there’s no question, but that’s not something thing’s going to happen immediately,” Evers said. “We need an immediate infusion of revenue. So, if tolling is part of the conversation, that’s certainly years down the road.”

Gov. Evers says President Trump is taking input from governors from both parties on a new transportation funding bill.
