Maryland Governor Larry Hogan announces plans to speed up the Chesapeake Bay Bridge project

Traffic relief could be on the way for drivers who use the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. Gov. Larry Hogan’s Office has announced crews will be working around the clock through the week of Thanksgiving to get construction expedited on the bridge. All of this is being done to improve traffic flow in the area.

As it stands, working is being done to replace the bridge deck surface in the right lane of the Westbound Span and replacing the steel rail posts. While that’s being conducted, crews are installing barriers and cones to allow those efforts to take place. This will ensure work can take place overnight without disrupting traffic. Cashless tolling will continue Thursday’s and Friday’s starting at noon and will end at 8 p.m.
