Department of Transportation invests $5.3 million in Southern Nevada’s infrastructure

On Tuesday, Dec. 11, U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine L. Chao announced that a $5.3 million grant is being awarded to the Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Southern Nevada.

The funding, made through the Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD) Transportation Grants program, will go toward the Las Vegas Medical District Automated Circular and Connected Pedestrian Safety Project, also known as GoMed.

The funds are meant to help RTC make autonomous and connected vehicle services available between the Las Vegas Medical District and downtown via four autonomous shuttles, along with safety features for pedestrians and transit shelters.
