Mayor Bill De Blasio can’t say why NYC hasn’t set up driver crackdown

Mayor de Blasio on Tuesday could offer no explanation why his administration has failed to implement a City Council law that could have taken the car involved off the street if its owner refused to take driving safety classes.

Instead, de Blasio threw his own appointees under the bus, saying he wanted to figure out why the Department of Transportation hadn’t set up the program required by a city law he signed in Feb. 2020.
