State Representative Julio Concepcion is on a mission to change how speed limits are set. A public hearing was held on Wednesday at the capitol on House Bill 6590, which would allow cities and towns to control the speed of their own streets after a public hearing.
Right now, it’s the state that sets those limits. State Representative Julio Concepcion said, “In the city of Hartford, we lost 23 people last year to car accidents, nine pedestrians alone and that’s too much in Hartford. So anything at the state level to give more authority to the municipialities is something we should be doing.”
