Colorado is putting a bus stop in the middle of I-25. Here’s how it will work.

Much of the attention on the North I-25 Express Lanes project from Johnstown to Fort Collins has been centered on widening the interstate from two lanes to three lanes each way, with the third lane being a toll lane.

That attention is deserved given that congestion on the busy interstate has been the bane of drivers for years and the issue is only getting worse as Front Range population increases.

But one of the overlooked parts of the project that will make travel between Fort Collins and Denver easier is the Kendall Parkway enhancement just north of the Interstate 25 and U.S. Highway 34 interchange in Loveland.

As part of the project, the area will include a first-of-its-kind feature for Colorado — a bus stop in the middle of I-25.
