Cleveland, OH: Hopes for a paved bike path linking Chagrin reservations have blown tire

Since the Cleveland Metroparks arose 101 years ago, leaders have gradually created links for drivers and bicyclists between many of the reservations, known collectively as the Emerald Necklace. A bike path was completed last month linking Rocky River, Mill Stream and Brecksville reservations as well as the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

But long-time hopes for a paved bike path or lanes along the 10.4 miles of River Road linking South Chagrin and North Chagrin reservations have blown out a tire. A report by the Environmental Design Group of Akron posted early this month recommended just signs and sharrows (shared-lane arrows with a bicyclist’s image) to remind drivers that bicyclists belong there.
