California: Highland (near San Bernardino) City Council votes to replace obsolete license plate reader

The Highland City Council agreed Tuesday night, Nov. 13, to spend $30,171 to replace an obsolete Automated License Plate Reader at Base Line and Seine Avenue that no longer works.

The city launched its plate reader program in 2011 with a $500,000 COPS grant. It has 27 fixed-point readers throughout the city and 13 affixed to patrol cars. There are four readers on two Citizens on Patrol vehicles.
