California Road Diet Watch: Ventura’s Montalvo neighborhood set to get sidewalks, bike lanes in $1.56 million project

In Montalvo, sidewalks will be added to Bristol Road, the neighborhood’s main street, as well as Grand Avenue and James Avenue. Bike lanes will be added to Walker Street and Moon Drive, the streets that connect the neighborhood to Victoria. The work should begin in the fall of 2020 and take a few months to complete.

When the work is done, scores of children who walk to Montalvo School will be able to use sidewalks and signaled crosswalks for most of their trip. Bicyclists will be able to ride from Montalvo north to the Ventura County Government Center and other destinations along Victoria, using bike lanes and dedicated bike paths almost the entire way. And both cyclists and pedestrians will have easier access to the Metrolink station in Montalvo.
