Boston: Mayor’s transportation plan would lower speed limits, increase fees on rideshare to ease traffic, congestion (Vision Zero Watch)

Boston Mayor Marty Walsh is rolling out a new transportation plan in an effort to alleviate traffic and congestion in the city.

As part of the city’s “Vision Zero” target, the mayor want to lower speed limits on neighborhood streets and develop a citywide education campaign on road safety. “We are going to work with the city council and the legislature to lower the speed limit on neighborhood streets to 20 miles per hour,” Walsh said.

The mayor is also asking for help from the legislature on several new initiatives.
