Bill HB2015 in Oregon Legislature would allow undocumented immigrants to get driver’s licenses

A bill that could allow undocumented immigrants to get a driver’s license has significant support in the Oregon Legislature. More than 40 lawmakers have signed on to the bill.

If passed, House Bill 2015 – or the Equal Access to Roads Act – would eliminate the requirement for people to prove they’re in the county legally before they’re issued a driver’s license.

Immigrant’s rights groups say that people who are in the country illegally should have the same rights to go to their jobs.

This would not apply to commercial licenses.
