Bill HB1229 allowing police to have access to traffic cameras doesn’t pass out of Washington State House

A measure that would have made it possible for police to gain access to traffic camera footage to solve open cases didn’t pass out of the state House of Representatives Wednesday night.

House Bill 1229 appeared to have support Wednesday morning, but by Wednesday afternoon it was lumped in with a larger measure focusing on traffic cameras. By 4:30 p.m., a half hour before the cutoff for bills to pass through the chamber, it hadn’t made it to a floor vote.
