Bee Cave, Texas City Council votes down speed limit reduction, ‘safety corrdior’ (HB2814)

Speed limit reductions and support for House Bill 2814, which would designate certain roads as “highway safety corridors” and essentially doubles traffic fines for violators, gained no support from Bee Cave’s City Council last week with both resolutions failing.

Mayor Monty Parker presented the two resolution to the City Council during a meeting March 26.

One resolution would have asked the Texas Department of Transportation to perform a traffic study and potentially lower the speed limit to 50 mph on all state-owned roads, including Texas 71, RM 620, Bee Cave Road and Hamilton Pool Road. The second resolution would have supported HB 2814, which was authored by Rep. Vikki Goodwin, D-Austin, and filed March 1.
