Fiat Chrysler is recalling the new Ram 1500 pickup over a problem with the truck’s safety software that controls the airbags and seat belt tensioners.
The Ram 1500 is having a rough few weeks for recall issues. At the end of May, over 410,000 Ram pickups were recalled for a tailgate that could spring open completely without warning, making smash fingers and dented metal a distinct risk. Those were previous-gen Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500 trucks.
Now we’re being told that the latest 2019 and 2020 Ram 1500 has another issue, this time affecting airbags and seat belt tensioners–two things you definitely want in perfect working order at all times.
