    What a boondoggle–City of Sacramento purchased these new smart parking meters because they thought they would save them time and money but instead—now they will probably have to refund money back because the meters were not working properly?  Adding convenience and complexity does not always mean it is better.

    As suggested in the article the issue rests within the mobile payment application and not with the parking meters. “City parking officials acknowledged last month they have begun proactively dismissing erroneous tickets after discovering problems with their ParkMobile app, a wireless payment device that allows motorists to pay via smartphone rather than put coins or a credit card in the meter.”
