A North Dakota State Senator has proposed a bill to increase the speed limits on Interstates from 75 to 80. Chair of the Senate Transportation Committee Lonnie Laffen, R-Grand Forks, said it’s an effort to allow drivers to be more efficient on the roads, and pointed out vehicles have become safer over time. “I think we can handle it now,” Laffen said Wednesday. The last speed limit increase was 13 years ago. The ND legislative session convenes this week.
