My brother had the interlock ignition device installed for over a year; by the most part it does what it is suppose to do. However there needs to be a safer process. The “rolling test”, where a mouth piece takes your concentration of your driving and requires a test every 15 minutes. This is why when taking an hour trip he would take the back roads; you do not want to be on a freeway driving at fast speeds with the ability to not always being able to pull off the road and the tester going off. The horns and lights experience can put the driver into a panic and our family feels this is what happened. He missed a very dangerous stop sign at an intersection driving those country roads. The time of his fatal accident was the time when this would have went off, did it drop on the floor (it was dark) we do not know. All we know is he is no longer with us. Luckily the other driver of vehicle in the accident only sustained minor injuries. My brother was not so lucky. The hand held device needs to go away!
