West Virginia HB 2120 – Providing local government the authority to place video cameras at road intersections
Providing local government the authority to place video cameras at road intersectionsFull Bill Text
HB 2120 was introduced to the House on January 9, 2019 and assigned to the Political Subdivisions Committee. It is not currently scheduled for a hearing or a vote.
The bill would allow local authorities to operate cameras at intersections where frequent accidents occur. Its language maintains that the cameras may not be used for the purpose of traffic enforcement. That would likely be just a matter of time.
The NMA opposes the use of cameras to monitor traffic and/or enforce traffic regulations.
