UPDATE June 16, 2021: Bill died in committee.
Vermont House Bill 8 was introduced on January 7, 2021 to reduce maximum speed limits from 65 mph to 55 mph along Vermont’s Interstate highway system. The bill is under consideration in the House Transportation Committee.
The NMA opposes this measure since arbitrarily lowering speed limits is not compatible with established traffic engineering practices. It may also hinder the free flow of traffic and lead to more accidents. Learn more about setting speed limits here.
