In Pennsylvania, speed limits are not posted anywhere near the 85th percentile free-flowing traffic speed, tickets may be written slightly above the speed limit, and we have had our own issues with radar accuracy, with the Radargate Scandal. State roads have never been safer, per PennDOT’s own data. This bill would simply allow the ticketing of safe drivers, who would not be cited, if speed limits were posted according to best-practice engineering standards. Roads could even become less safe.
Please take the simple step of calling your own state senator right now. The Senate Appropriations Committee passed SB 251 on September 18, 2017 and the Senate Transportation Committee passed it earlier this year, so the bill could get a full-chamber vote at any time.
Thank you for your support of motorists’ rights in Pennsylvania.
