NEW STUDY DISCOVERS THE OBVIOUS, TRAFFIC TICKETS ARE WRITTEN TO RAISE REVENUE
Any NMA member knows that traffic tickets are primarily a means for local and state governments to raise money. Sure, the official excuse is “safety,” but it doesn’t take scientist to recognize a revenue generating scheme as obvious as the issuing of traffic tickets.
Still, it doesn’t hurt to have hard proof that motorists are being fleeced by the governments they support with their tax dollars.
A soon to be released study from the Journal of Law and Economics has documented the systematic increase in tickets being issued every time local governments get strapped for money. Here’s the link the story if you would like to learn more about this research.
