New Hampshire HB 639 – Relative to speed limits in cities and towns
Relative to speed limits in cities and townsFull Bill Text
HB 639 was introduced in the House on January 16, 2019 and referred to the Transportation Committee. The bill has been scheduled for a February 12, 2019 committee hearing.
The bill reduces the minimum speed limit of a state highway within the boundaries of cities or towns from 25 mph to 20 mph. A municipality may petition the state transportation commissioner for the minimum posted speed arbitrarily, i.e., without the justification of a speed study or engineering anaylsis.
