House Bill 1137 was introduced on December 2, 2019 and referred to the House Transportation Committee.
The bill unnecessarily redefines “excessive speeding” for the purposes of identifying a “serious traffic violation” from traveling at a rate that is 15 miles per hour over the posted speed limit (current definition) down to 10 mph over the speed limit, or where the posted limit is 70 mph, from traveling 10 mph over the limit (current) down to 5 mph over the limit.
