UPDATE March 14, 2019: Second reading in Senate, failed to pass, yeas 10 nays 36

Bill 1442 was introduced in the House on January 14, 2019, reported back as “do pass” on February 6th, and forwarded to the Senate on February 13th. On February 18th, the bill was referred to the Senate Judiciary Committee.

The bill would prohibit police from setting up DUI roadblocks to detain and question motorists without any reason to believe they are engaged in wrongdoing. The NMA’s position on roadblocks is provided here.
