UPDATE June 16, 2021: Bill died in committee.

Minnesota House Bill 244 would prohibit law enforcement agencies from using the number of traffic or administrative citations issued, the number of traffic stops made or traffic enforcement activity as criteria to evaluate a peace officer’s performance. The bill is currently under consideration in the House Public Safety and Criminal Justice Reform Finance and Policy Committee.

The NMA supports this measure as a way to prevent the spread of speed traps and overzealous traffic enforcement.
