UPDATE March 16, 2019: Unfavorable report by Committee; bill withdrawn.

HB 984 was introduced February 8, 2019 and was then referred to the House Environment & Transportation Committee. The Committee has scheduled a hearing for March 1st.

The NMA supports this lane courtesy bill which requires drivers on a roadway that has three or more lanes for traffic moving in the same direction with a certain posted maximum speed limit to only use the far left lane for overtaking and passing another vehicle in a certain manner and under certain circumstances, i.e., keep right to let faster traffic pass on the left except for certain situations detailed in the bill such as preparing for a left lane exit.
